singing

workshops

for schools

Call and response song allows quick student engagement with large numbers.

Singing

Students will learn a traditional song, including its translation and context. It can include rounds or poly rhythms and it perfect to perform to an audience.

Call and Response

A really quick way to get large groups actively involved. The song leader sings a song to which the class responds.

Mixed activities

We rarely run singing as a stand alone workshop. It dovetails perfectly with drum, dance and story telling.

Singing Workshop

Here is some video from a session run at a primary school, here children are showing their parents what they have learnt in an hours session. All of our activities are fully accessible and adaptable equipment is available. Makaton signs can be used to support the song and we are more than happy to work to meet your learning objectives.

All our school workshops aim to introduce positive views of Africa and challenge stereotypes. Activities are unifying, adapting to the differing abilities of those within the group.

African Activities works hard to redress an imbalance that we, as Africans, perceive in the west.  We simply do not recognise the one dimensional view of the rich and diverse continent that we derive from!

At African Activities we are proud to be the leading supplier of African themed workshops across England. An African Activities workshop guarantees an authentic and quality experience from our exceptional artists. We are proud to work with international musicians who we believe are the best you will find outside Africa, our musicians work across every continent except Antarctica and the Arctic! Of course we are CRB checked and insured.

You can view our workshops on CBeebies and the BBC. We invite you to view our testimonials and see what those who work with us think of our outcomes!

Our workshops will bring African into your school, workplace, community group or festival and we feel we have a lot to offer!
