Kwame is a graduate from the Ghannata College of Arts in Accra and went on to be the artist in residence at the Centre for National Culture in Ghana.

Now based in the UK and uniquely placed to take your pupils and students on a tour of Ghanaian arts and culture.  Kwame works with galleries, schools, community groups and arts organisations as an artist educator; bringing African art, recycled art workshops and community projects to schools, events and other venues.

Kwame can bring a unique range of arts projects to your primary school or early years setting, all based on African art forms, exploring many medias from textiles to recycling and everything in between. The workshops are suitable for Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Early Years. They can also be adapted to meet your additional learning objectives.

In addition to working with children, Kwame can also run inset sessions/CPD for teachers and other adults, as he has done for Hampshire County Council.

Kwame often runs one or two day projects, and can undertake short-term residencies in schools, helping primary and secondary school children to explore African art and create sculptures from recycled materials. He has delivered the arts award to two groups in the summer of 2015.

We have created costumes, flocks of birds, African Villages, jewellery, pots and are sure together we can come up with something new that will be perfect for your students. All our workshops are inclusive with focus on engaging every child.

How can we combine Workshops?

During the sessions, clothing and masks can be produced for performance, as can the instruments themselves!

Storytelling and song can be used as part of the sessions to engage students and to ensure they leave the session with an even deeper understanding of Ghanaian culture.

There is no additional charge for mixing and matching any of our workshops, but remember one practitioner can only be in one place at one time!

Running a Workshop

Let us know your learning objectives and desired outcomes and we will plan the best outcome for you.

For junk modelling we will ask students to select specific items.  For example to make masks they will need to bring a milk bottle and newspapers and magazines.

For Adinkra there is a materials charge of £10 per class of 30.
