African Activities were humbled to be nominated for the award of “best SEND resource in schools” and delighted to discover we have been shortlisted as finalists.

The Award is delivered by The Music and Drama Education Awards who told us “This is a tremendous achievement against extremely tough competition. This year we received an astounding number of entries, so being shortlisted is an incredible feat.”

Our work with SEND students utilises our full range of workshops, all adapted to suit and respond to student need.  This year as well as continuing our work in schools and for various museums and art centres we have also be pleased to provide SEND provision for the Westminster and Kensington boroughs.

We were commended for our wide range of exciting adaptable activities and our engaging and inclusive approach.  Our ability to adapt and respond to student need and to gently take students beyond expectations was also highlighted.

Here is what other schools have thought…

Fantastic! Kwame worked with pupils aged 5 – 19 all of whom have SLD. He adapted the workshop to ensure that everyone was engaged. There was some fantastic drumming, percussion and dancing. At the end of the workshops pupils had had a good time and many had a sense of achievement as they had performed with Kwame to their friends and staff.

Woodlands School, Surrey

We had the amazing day. Kwame was very friendly, professional and most of all able to identify the range of needs our children have.

Springwell School

I have had lots of feedback from staff and pupils, all of which thoroughly enjoyed the activities. They all returned to class and competed their milk bottle elephants and were proud to take them home. Thank you.
